Planning for Production: Ideas for Costumes, Props and Hairstyles for Photo shoot

Outfits:

Whilst planning my photo shoot, I will consider what my models are going to wear, props they will use and there hairstyles. The outfit, props and hairstyles shall portray my genre and overall house style. I have chosen some models to portray my look of new up coming stars who will be in my magazine.

Kate Reynolds (me)

This model will be wearing a coca cola top and a denim skirt.
This connotes youthfulness, cuteness and also her taste of music and portrays a pop artist look to this model. I have chosen to use this outfit because from my research into pop artists and pop magazines this outfit is a very stereotypical and will make my magazine more distant as a pop magazine.

Alice Price

This model will be wearing a bright pinky orange knitted jumper and light blue jeans.
I have chosen to use this outfit idea as from my research into present mainstream pop magazine; most pop artists & bands from my genre wear bright, fun clothing and wear clothes that related to their music. This outfit is very stereotypical and fits in to my genre very well.

Megan Sparrow

This model will be wearing a onzie
This outfit connotes youth and fun. Onzies are every stereotypical for pop teen girls and they seem to be the ones always wearing them and buying them in the shops. Also because i am a teen girl who love pop magazines i know that teen girls with the same interests as me loves onzies because i have 8 at home! The onzie being the colour white connotes purity and innocent which is stereotypical for my target audience.

Liam Evans

This model will be wearing denim jeans and a super dry T-shirt.
This connotes a relaxed, stereotypical teen boy. This look is a basic outfit which pop boy bands and artists portray. Using a typical stereotypical boy will attract the female girl readers to read into my magazine more.

Shoes:

These are the sorts of shoes i will make my teenage models wear. This is because they are stereotypically what teenagers wear.  These are all designer shoes which will attract the females women because they make the men look more attractive and girls look more classy. Also because the shoes are all designer and celebrities are likely to wear designer shoes therefore I'm making my models look like celebrities so making my magazine relistic.

Props:

These are the props id make my models wear! Bags are a great accessory for girls to wear. Stereotypically teenage girls judge girls by the bag they have whether its a designer bag, what colour it is. To make my magazine seem professional i will make my models wear designer bags because thats what all the best celebrities will have. Stereotypically pop magazines wear heavy make up. Heavy make up on my models will connote Youthfulness and professionalism. I will make my models wear jewellery because jewellery will attract the attention of teenage girls because they love jewellery.

Hairstyle:

Looking back on my research of other pop magazines i have noticed that the most effective pop artist hairstyle is having there hair down. Teenage girls these days love to have the hair down and straightened. Therefore i will make sure i have my models with there hair down.

Planning for Production: Location Ideas for Images

From my research I have found out that most pop music magazines use very professional, clean cut images which usually involve little to no background image at all.The image background is usually  white or a block simplistic colour this is effective and connotes fresh-fullness and professionalism. However, for the smaller images that I will use in my front cover and contents page, promoting smaller stories under the cover-lines are normally less professional, with a more busier background and more action shots.

For example:
1) I will use a background like a white wall so it connotes professionalism and as clean cut as possible. Like the background in this one directions image;

2) And the other background I will use will be a more busier background. Images like these would be of celebs who didn't know the photo would have been taken therefore this suggests that the images cover-line will be gossip which is what my target audience loves. This background connotes a realistic image. Like the background in this photo of Cheryl Cole of the car and grass.

The mix of the two types of locations will make my magazine seem effective and stand out from the others. The use of both location makes my magazine connotes professionalism. As my research showed me there are many pop magazines for younger girls but seeming as my target audience is for older teens I need to make sure my magazine looks grown up. The use of two locations makes my magazine seem grown up and professional therefore would be a successful popular pop music magazine.

Planning for Production: Photoshoot Inspiration

I liked the photos of Ariana Grande and One Direction because of the direct address they have with the camera and also the poses they are pulling. From my research have found out that most front covers in the pop genre have a central image of a pop artist/s looking directly into the camera posing. I like how both the photos have a plain block colour as there background, but I especially like the One Direction background. The plain white background conotes freshfullness and really expresses the photo well, this makes it easier to veiw the artists/bands and so the magazine does not look “messy”.The clothes that One Direction and Ariana Grande are all wearing pop clothes therefore I will dress my models in clothes like these.

These photos of Cher Lloyd and Arianne Grande are a perfect representation of the pop music genre.  I want to use a pose like these for my double page spread because it’s a cute and playful picture which is what pop artists are like. Again, white, clear backgrounds have been used for Cher Lloyd and this is very effective. I like this idea as I believe it looks professional but still fun. However, I realise that getting a completely perfect clear background for my own magazine may prove difficult. Their outfits are that of clean-cut, teenage, 'preppy' pop look.

Planning for Production: Potential Models

In this post I expressed my initial ideas for my potential models for my photographs that I will use in my magazine. All the photos of these people i have taken myself therefore this gives me a good insight on the way they may look if i was to do a shoot with them for my music magazine.

Alice price
Alice's style connotes the exact feeling that my music magazine will be trying to portray, this makes her a great potential model. Alice gives off the right age of my target audience therefore would be the perfect age for my model. She's beautiful and good at posing, this will appeal to my target audience and make my photographs look effective. Another thing is that i mostly only see Alice in my media class, therefore we may be busy in class doing other things this means i wont have the opportunity's to take photos of her for my magazine.

Liam Evans

Liam has the perfect image to fit into my pop magazine and also appears to be a good match for my target audience age group. By using a male model for my sub-genre of magazine, I will attract a larger readership, not only because my male readers will find it relatable, but also because male models would attract the attention of female readers. Liam would also be a very convenient model to do a shoot with, this is because I see him regularly. However he is quite awkward when it comes to posing for a picture, you can see this as I have had to use a action shot I have taken of him because he doesn't like posing. Therefore Liam would only be a good model for my smaller images on my content page and front cover because these will be action shots which is what he is best for.

Megan Sparrow
Megan's style connotes the exact feeling that my magazine will be trying to portray, this makes her a ideal potential model for my magazine. she also appears to be a good match for my target audience age group. However I don't see Megan much so finding the time to have a photo shot with her could be very tricky.

Myself
It would be very simple to use me as my main model and take the images on a timer. This is convenient because I will have a lot of time to take the images but also because I know exactly how I want my images to look, this means I don't have to explain what I want to someone else. However I think I come across to young to appeal to my target audience age group. Also I don't have the right image that I want to portray in my magazine.
